Death
That's a bit morbid isn't is? Yes, yes it is.
Death as a concept is pretty sobering for most people because they look at it as the end. Not just the end of a fun time, they see death as the end of their memories, impact, and goals for life.
It's easy to see why folks would want to avoid thinking about death when it holds such a scary power. We each live with different ideas about how we can cheat death as long as possible. Will we invest in healthy lifestyle choices or avoid dangerous activities? Will we double check our seatbelts or ask our loved ones to text us when they get home? Each choice we make grasps at the time we have left.
Death, taxes, and time moving; there are a few constants in life that will happen.
The cycle of life will carry on despite our worry. Vegetation will grow and animals will eat it, when the animals pass on they will decay and feed the roots of the plants that their offspring will grow eating. Worry can do no action to prevent time passing and age is the death we can't prevent with caution.
None of the energy we invest in worry can prevent us from growing old. Why not spend that energy investing in things that bring us joy and will last beyond us? That's not a claim against responsibility and thoughtfulness; please do the sensible things to keep yourself safe day-to-day. But dwelling on your potential and mourning a loss you have not yet experienced spends energy you could have spent smelling roses and appreciating life.
Glitter as an art medium is fantastic for showing visually and thematically how easy it is to connect with others. Every art piece with glitter leaves a Hansel & Gretel breadcrumb trail from the artist to its final home; connecting the hands that exchanged it with tiny bits of sparkle. The little bits float around and show up in the floorboards and carpets, but each glittering reminder is a moment to cherish the present and not rush through life worrying.
The memories of our loved ones who have died remain with us. Every time we think of them fondly or make a choice based on a lesson we learned from them, we are honoring their impact on our life and the investments they made in the present.
How beautiful it is to use art to cherish others and steward lasting impact!
The cycle of life is full of death, it's necessary for new life. The more you take note of the sparks of joy and glitter in life, the better you can steward those good things for the whole ecosystem. If you create music, others can hear it and share that joy with you. They can remember it and pass it on to others. Suddenly the art you created has a life beyond your own time on this earth and your small act of personal expression has transformed into a piece of art that will steward emotion and community.
Death and Glitter combine as an art brand to show us how unique and valuable day to day is and how important personal expression is to develop caring and curious cultures.
It is our mission to steward our communities through compassionate and creative communications that honor the memory of the dead and the joy of the living with quality services and products.
We need decay for the creation of new life. We need the pressure of loss to connect and celebrate loved ones. We grow our communities when we value the importance of Death AND Glitter and create platforms that allow our full range of human emotion.
