Ewok & ATST Cosplay

Project type

Cosplay & Photography

Date

2023-2024

Location

Chicagoland

A collaborative cosplay project designed by Catie GeRue and Juan Ortega respectively.

The Ewok cosplay by Catie was inspired by the character "Malani" from the 1985 animated TV show and created with mostly thrifted materials.

The ATST "Chicken-Walker" cosplay by Juan was inspired by the Empire's all-terrain vehicles who fought the Ewoks on Endor in the Return of the Jedi. This project is almost entirely cardboard and other recycled elements like pie plates and phone cords.

Catie and Juan collaborate to design, build, and perform these characters at different events and photography opportunities including:

Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) Star Wars character meet up and photograph event

A large scale Chicago area event for cosplayers and photographers to meet and share skills in the beautiful settings of La Baugh Woods

Juan Ortega & Catie GeRue have teamed up to present their perspective on the beauty of the macabre.
